Duets - Our New Show

After five years performing as a musical duo on cruise ships around the world, we decided it was time to create something new, something that really interested and challenged us. And that’s how our latest show, Duets, was born.

For those who don’t know us yet, we’re The Manchesters, Rachel and Peter Manchester, a singing and musical duo from up north in England. Between us, we’ve spent years performing in professional theatre and musical theatre (including Les Misérables in London), and more recently we’ve been guest entertainers and resident performers aboard some of the world’s most beautiful cruise ships.

When you live and perform at sea, you get to see a lot: incredible destinations, fascinating people, and, perhaps most importantly, the way music can bring everyone together, no matter where they’re from. That’s what inspired Duets.

Inspiration

Over the years, we’ve sung everything from pop classics to jazz standards, from Fleetwood Mac to musical theatre ballads. But we realised that we've been so popular as a duo because we sing together. We're lucky not to be a solo voice and a musician and we both love to harmonise and blend.

There’s something special about two voices blending in harmony, whether it’s a power ballad or a gentle acoustic number. So we wanted to build a show entirely around that idea: the joy of singing together.

Duets celebrates the great partnerships in music, from Phantom to Dirty Dancing and adds our own story as a real-life couple who just happen to make music for a living.

Life At Sea (and On Stage)

Creating a new show while living aboard a cruise ship wasn’t straightforward! Our “rehearsal studio” was often a ship’s lounge between guest events, and our “office” was a cabin desk covered with lyric sheets and cables.

But honestly, we wouldn’t have it any other way. Cruise life keeps you on your toes, one day you’re performing in the Caribbean, the next you’re watching the sun not setting in the North Pole. It’s unpredictable, exciting, and endlessly inspiring.

We hope that sense of adventure runs through Duets. It’s not just about love songs, it’s about journeys, whether that’s through chartacters, music or across the open ocean.

What To Expect

In Duets, you’ll hear classic love songs, a few unexpected twists, and plenty of moments that showcase both our voices and our instruments (yes there’s flute, guitar, and maybe a few surprises).

We’ve designed the show for cruise ship theatres and guest entertainer venues, so it’s flexible, high-quality, but even on a big stage it's still personal. Every performance is a chance to connect, make people laugh, and remind them why live music is so powerful. That's why we're getting charts made for our performances when the ship has a live band!
